Casey Stewart, Yoga teacher & Studio co-owner
Casey’s passion for yoga inspires and holds space for students to journey deeper into their own practice, body, mind and spirit, both on and off the mat. Casey is recognized in the Pacific Northwest as an accomplished teacher and practitioner. She is the co-founder of Root 2 Rise, voted best yoga studio in Seattle by the readership of Seattle Yoga News in 2015.
Casey discovered yoga in early 2006, and the feeling of rejuvenation and encouragement left her instantly hooked. She was empowered to leave a high-stress career in the hospitality industry and immersed herself in study with world-renowned teacher Baron Baptiste. Her studies took her to Hawaii, Montana, and Colorado while earning her teaching certificate, after she immediately became part of the local teaching community. Most recently Casey traveled to Costa Rica for an opportunity to study with teachers, Elena Brower and Rod Stryker.
Casey walks the talk. She believes gratitude creates abundance, and in the power of manifestation. With a love of yoga and an impassioned sense of wanderlust, Casey has created a one-of-a-kind African yoga safari to Tanzania. She intends to continue planning worldwide yoga & wellness retreats in exotic locales. Casey finds many parallels between yoga and travel; be present, feel fully, and explore!
Teaching yoga flows from Casey’s genuine commitment to her own personal practice as well as the delight of connecting with others and sharing a love of yoga. She continually strives to bring a creative and playful energy to each class, incorporating a variety of styles and techniques she’s learned throughout the years. Believing “we are always a student,” Casey continues her studies with teachers including Elena Brower, Dharma Mittra, Jason Crandell, Amy Ippoliti, Sarah Powers as well as many others.
Home in Western Washington, Casey offers classes and in-depth programming at Root 2 Rise Yoga studio in Woodinville, WA. She is blessed to share her life with her two children, Ali and Isaiah and their four-legged friend, Chloe. When not on her mat, you can find Casey exploring the outdoors, hiking, snowboarding, walking her dog, or relaxing on a sandy beach.
Dawn Torres, Yoga teacher, Intuitive Engery & Sound Healer
Dawn found her way into her first yoga class in 2002 at the urging of a friend. She left that class with a feeling of peace and contentment she had never experienced. She immediately began a consistent practice and soon found herself in her first 200 yoga teacher training with Yoga Works in Seattle and soon took her first trip to India to pursue her first 500-hour certification. She has since traveled around the world studying with some of the brightest teachers and healers in their fields such as Alberto Villoldo (Shamanism), Suren Shrestha (Sound Healing), Marie Manuchehri (Intuitive Energy Medicine). She also continues to be inspired by her yoga teachers, Eoin Finn, Shiva Rea, Rama Jyoti Vernon, Anand Mehrotra and others that have paved the way for the transformation that yoga brings to her life.
Dawn’s belief and dedication to the eight-limbed path of yoga is reflected in her teaching, healing and daily life. Her classes sprinkle yogic wisdom, humor, and compassion to inspire and guide students deeper into the practice and gifts that are available to us as well as allow us a glimpse at the true essence ourselves of that lies within.
As Dawn began to see the changes and healing that yoga was bringing to her physical body and the peace it was bringing to her mind, she began to expand her study into the world of alternative healing. She has studied Iridology, herbology, hypnotherapy, crystal healing, Shamanism, Sound Healing, and more. Dawn received her Reiki Master certification from Ann Devor in Seattle in 2001 and it became the foundation for her practice in the field of intuitive energy healing.
Dawn considerers herself a life-long student and finds great joy in continuing to blend her love of travel with her passion for study, yoga, and healing. If she is not in some beautiful location as a student, or tourist, you will find her leading a retreat, locally or internationally to destinations that speak to her soul.
Dawn is the former owner of Laughing Buddha Yoga Studio, a sanctuary in her community of Mill Creek and Bothell. She currently offers healing sessions privately that combine a mixture of the modalities she has studied throughout the years with an emphasis on Reiki, Sound Healing, and shamanism. She incorporates the teachings of yoga and meditation combined with other tools to support the balance and healing clients are seeking. She teaches yoga at Root 2 Rise Yoga Studio in Woodinville and offers workshops in various yogic subjects at various studios as well as offering group healing sound bath events at studios, corporations and for small groups.
The Pacific North West is home for Dawn and her family. She has been married to her supportive and wonderful husband for twenty-eight years and is the proud mother of four sons that have enriched and blessed her life. Through life’s challenges, she has come to cherish the simplest things in life, such as time, presence and the love of those she holds dearest.
